As

album, the duo took time off producing "No Strings Attached" to perform

tunes - just for the heck of it.
On the album, Roger said, "Farid and I have been talking about this
project since the first time we sat down and jammed with each other
back in August 2004. We finally found the time to get this going early
this year. Hopefully, if all goes well, the album will be out by

took Johor by storm when they performed onstage here for the very first

side-splitting laughter. And if you've missed all four nights (July 26

First Malaysian Guitarist in Taiwan
Roger became the first Malaysian
finger style guitarist to perform in
Taiwan when he joined internationally-acclaimed Belgian finger style
guitarist Jacques Stotzem (left) and Taiwan's master finger style
guitar
teacher Huang Chia Wei (centre) for the Taiwan Open
Strings Solo Guitar Concert 2006 tour.
The
seven-day tour, organised by Huang, began on April 23, 2006 and
brought the three guitarists to seven towns throughout the island
nation.
Performing before hundreds of Taiwanese
guitar enthusiasts in
universities and clubs, Roger kicked off his segment of every
concert
with his rendition of popular Malaysian tune by the
legendary late Tan
Sri P. Ramlee, Bunyi Gitar.
He continued to dazzle local audiences with his versatility and
dexterity by playing songs like Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Sugar Plum
Fairy from the famous musical Nutcracker and
Michael Jackson's Man
in
the Mirror on his guitar.
"Playing a new audience always
gives me a new perspective (on my music) and opens up fresh
opportunities," Roger says.

"No Strings Attached",
upcoming album with Mr. Gambus @ Farid Ali
Roger's working on yet another
album!
This time,
he's collaborating with the very established and renowned
Malaysian guitarist, Farid
Ali (Farid
Ali's Official Website),
to produce their very first album, "No Strings
Attached". Recently, Farid is also known internationally as
the advocate for
the gambus, an instrument that he feels should be revived.
He spends a good deal of his time, giving workshops and
performing with the gambus, in an attempt to create international awareness for this
instrument.
Some of you may even
have already heard both guitarists perform. As a prelude to the "No Strings Attached" project,
Roger & Farid had performed in various locations in Kuala Lumpur and Johore in March
2006. Judging from the response from
the audience and the vibe between both seasoned guitarists
during
these gigs, the upcoming album is a 2006 Must-Have!
Roger & Farid are
currently juggling their busy schedules
to record in both Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu. Look out for
the album launch by November
2006 and the "No Strings Attached: Album
Launch" tour!
